Introduction to Stratford

Stratford is hugely well known due to the 2012 Olympics. The giant Westfield Stratford City shopping centre opened earlier in October 2011. It’s now the largest single shopping centre in Europe, along with its surrounding shops and Stratford centre.

Travel connections

Stratford is an area with some of the best travel connections. With an underground service that includes the Central and Jubilee line, Stratford has direct routes to Bank, St Paul’s, Liverpool Street and Oxford Circus. There is also a DLR train that goes to Canary Wharf, with Overground services to Highbury & Islington.

Array of restaurants

There are restaurants EVERYWHERE in Stratford including Jamie Oliver’s Italian restaurant, the Darkhorse restaurant and The Westbridge Hotel. If you’re around at Lunch time then Westfields shopping centre houses so many options, from many different cultures so there's always options to satisfy your lunch cravings.

The shopping Centre also houses a huge VUE cinema, with all the latest movies for amazing prices. There’s always themed holiday events going on as well so keep up to date as you wouldn’t want to miss out on the VR gaming, ice rinks, student nights and many more.

Student community

There is a strong student community in Stratford too. The University of East London (UEL) has a major campus in Stratford, whose main building, University House, is a lovely historic listed building dating from the nineteenth century.
